Boreal Forest Program acknowledges that the location of our program is on Chief Drygeese Territory in the Akaitcho Region, the traditional territory of the Yellowknifes Dene First Nation.

Boreal Forest Program (BFP) provides our community with a high quality nature immersion program for learners, aged 5+, throughout the summer months. Our mission at BFP is to inspire children to connect with nature through repeated exposure to the same natural space. It encourages creativity and resilience, while promoting a learner’s connection with themselves and each other. This program is a safe space for kids to be kids; to dive deep into play at their own level and pace, ask questions, engage with natural materials and have the freedom to get a little dirty.
“Wild landscapes are especially good for children because their senses are engaged on every level. When children need to run, jump and climb, the best challenge is the landscape full of grasses, rocks and fallen trees. For quieter moments, turning over a rock reveals a miniature ecosystem diverse and alive. No toy, technology, or indoor environment can rival the unpredictability of nature.”
